“Sociolinguistics story”
This piece is a collection voicemails and casual recordings of speaking voices of the people who exist in my life and upbringing (not everyone of course, but many). Intertwined with the recordings are samples of some of the music and media that influenced me. This was for an assignment who’s prompt was to tell your “sociolinguistics story” by explaining what went into influencing the way you use language.

“Singh”
This piece is a collection of field recordings of natural sounds including peacocks in Portugal, genuine laughter, and arbitrary human conversation. Most of the audio is intentionally raw and minimally altered. It evolves into a lyrical portion that encapsulates the main messages of the piece - those main messages conveying a desire to not think so much about the things I create — I’d like to simply sing and connect with my roots. I want to find grounding in the natural world, the music that exists in authentic human interaction, and in the places I call home.
The title reflects that: “Singh” is a common last name of the Indian diaspora and the last name of one of my best friends who’s laugher inspired this piece. I especially chose the name becauseof its homophony with the verb “sing” — a verb I love dearly.
